The Camer-Rand Fund, Inc., attracts philanthropic support in order to study the surgical care of patients with complex adult spinal deformity. Stephen Camer, MD, Frank Rand, MD, Pablo Diaz-Collado, MD and Taryn LeRoy, MD, have extensive experience and superior outcomes in adult cases of spinal deformity.The Camer-Rand Fund, Inc., seeks to construct a sustainable framework for essential ongoing spinal deformity research that will improve the lives of patients and serve as a model for the conduct of spinal surgery research.

Dr. Stephen Camer
​
Dr. Stephen Camer joined New England Baptist Hospital as an attending surgeon in 1975. He has held several leadership roles in his career at NEBH, including Chief of General Surgery and Chairman of the Department of Surgery.
Dr. Camer earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College and a Medical Degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in New York, followed by a Surgical Fellow ship at the Lahey Clinic. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery.
He currently serves as Chairman Emeritus of the Executive Board of Governors at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He is also a member of several professional societies including the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Camer holds a teaching appointment as a Clinical Professor in Surgery at Tufts Univer sity School of Medicine and has served as Clinical Instructor in Surgery at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Frank Rand

Dr. Frank Rand is a senior spine surgeon at New England Baptist Hospital, having joined the staff in 1988. At NEBH, he serves as Director for Spinal Deformity Services. He is the Director of Spinal Deformity Service at the Camer-Rand Fund for Spinal Deformity Research.
Dr. Rand started his career at Boston Children’s Hospital as a pedi atric and adult scoliosis surgeon. After earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of California Berkeley, he attended Medi cal School at UCLA. He then completed an orthopedic residency at the Harvard Combined Residency Program. He eventually became full time at New England Baptist, focusing on adult scoliosis. He is an instructor in orthopedic surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Dr. Taryn Leroy

Dr. LeRoy, an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine, manages spinal diseases and conditions encompassing the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, including degenerative issues and spinal deformity. Dr. LeRoy has a special interest in scoliosis, addressing the needs of both late adolescents and adults. Dr. LeRoy has authored and contributed to numerous publications and scientific articles, contributing to the enrichment of medical literature and knowledge.
After receiving her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. LeRoy completed her orthopaedic training at Tufts Affiliated Hospitals Orthopaedic Residency program. She earned both the Henry H. Banks Outstanding Chief Resident Award and the Outstanding Orthopedic Resident Research Award during her residency. She completed her spine fellowship at Washington University in Saint Louis/Barnes Jewish Hospital.
Dr. LeRoy’s specialties include: degenerative conditions of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine (stenosis, spondylolisthesis, disc herniation), myelopathy, complex spinal deformity, scoliosis, revision spine surgery

Dr. Pablo Collado-Diaz

Dr. Diaz-Collado is the Medical Director of Spinal Deformity at New England Baptist Hospital. He is a fellowship-trained back, neck, and spine specialist with a keen interest in degeneratives pine conditions, spinal deformity, and complex reconstructive spine surgery. Dr. Diaz-Collado completed his Spine Surgery fellowship at the prestigious Washington University School of Medicine/Barnes-Jewish Hospital after attending the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated summa cum laude. During his undergraduate years, Dr. Diaz completed research fellowships in neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School. He then earned his medical degree with honors from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed orthopaedic surgery residency at Yale University. He is an Assistant Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine, having received multiple awards, grants, and recognitions for his academic work and research
